Decade of Dominance (3-9-18)
The UW-Oshkosh men’s volleyball team put the finishing touches on its tenth straight Wisconsin Volleyball Conference regular season title with a thrilling 25-15, 25-16, 18-25, 20-25, 15-12 victory over UW-Whitewater on senior night (March 8) at Kolf Sports Center.

UW-Oshkosh (20-8 / 8-2 WVC), ranked 15th in the latest National Collegiate Volleyball Federation Division I poll, took a three-match lead over the second place Warhawks with the win. After dominating the first two sets, the Titans had to survive a back and forth deciding stanza to claim the championship.

Nick Davies (So. – Waukesha) had a fantastic overall match leading the team with 18 kills on a .441 hitting percentage. He added 22 assists, five digs and four blocks. Peter Nordel (Sr. – Torrance, Calif.) added 10 kills and a team leading seven blocks, Brandon Schmidt (Gr. – Kaukauna) piled up 13 kills on 21 attempts and Matt Pedersen (Jr. – Muskego) dished out a team best 28 assists and had nine digs.

Jake Martin (Jr. – New Lenox, Ill.) tallied 11 digs and two service aces, Sam Moua (Sr. – Appleton) topped the team with three service aces and provided nine digs and Alex Basting (Jr. – Franklin) slammed down six kills. Sammy Pedersen (Sr. – Muskego) had eight digs as the Titans had 58 saves in the match.

Before the contest the Titans honored graduating players Moua, Nordel and Sammy Pedersen from the Division I team, Steve Cotton (Muskego) and Andrew Shea (Brookfield) from Division II and Danny Mirda (Brookfield) from Division III.

“I am proud of the team’s resiliency tonight,” said head coach Will Brydon. “While it was not our best volleyball, the team stayed tough and battled back to win in the end. It is even more special to know this victory seals a tenth straight WVC Division I regular season title. To see the team continue the legacy of the teams that came before them is such an amazing sight. 10 years of championships is special accomplishment and a testament to our program’s determination to play at a top level day in and day out.”

“A special thanks to our graduating players as we celebrate their successes along with this victory,” added Brydon. “Their leadership, hard work, and drive make all the difference.”
