Luke Coyle Decides on UW-Oshkosh (5-4-08)
Luke Coyle, a 6-4 middle blocker from Wauwatosa has decided to continue his playing career as a member of the UW-Oshkosh club team announced head coach Brian Schaefer. Coyle will be a member of the Titans' 2008-2009 squad. "Luke brings a lot of volleyball knowledge to the sport and we are excited that he will be a member of out team next year," said Schaefer. "With Luke's decision this may shape up to be our best freshmen class ever at UW-Oshkosh." Coyle attends Wauwatosa East high school and played for head coach John Simon. Coyle led his team to the 2006 WIAA state championship as a junior and to the semifinals last season as the captain of his team. In 2007 he was named first-team all-state and first-team All-Greater Metro Conference. Currently Coyle is a starting middle blocker for the North Shore junior Olympic volleyball club where he is coached by Brad Kuehl. He is the son of Karen and Pat and will be studying psychology at UW-Oshkosh. "The reasons that I chose to come to UW-Oshkosh are because of all my visits to the area," said Coyle. "I enjoyed the people I met and I really liked the look and feel of the campus. I also enjoyed meeting the coaches and players and look forward to playing volleyball with them next year." "Luke continues the list of players that have chosen UW-Oshkosh that I consider good guys," added Schaefer. "We have make a conscience effort to go after players that will be good teammates as well as students at UW-Oshkosh. Our newcomers on the team this year represent that philosophy as well as the incoming players for next year. Luke may be at the top of the impressive list of student-athletes."
