First-Team All-State Selection Picks UW-Oshkosh (3-3-09)
Harris Jorgenson, a 6-3 middle blocker and outside hitter from Burlington has decided to continue his playing career at UW-Oshkosh according to head coach Brian Schaefer. Jorgenson will join the team for the 2009-2010 season.
"Harris has been to campus on several occasions and connected to UW-Oshkosh and the team right away," stated Schaefer. "He is a great player that can play more than one position on the court. I think with his commitment to our team this will jump start our recruits in making a decision for next season."
Jorgenson attends Burlington High School and played for head coach Tim Gesteland. In 2007 and 2008 he was named First Team All-Southwest Conference, while being selected the conference and county player of the year his senior campaign. He ended his prep career being named first-team all-state by the Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association and set the single season kill record (450) for his school. Currently he plays for Southwest junior Olympic volleyball club and is the son of Tom and Kim Steffy. Jorgenson is undecided on a major at UW-Oshkosh. "I choose UW-Oshkosh because of a combination of good academics and athletic environment," said Jorgenson. "The guys on the team are great and UW-Oshkosh has the students' best interest at heart. They want everyone to succeed and I could definitely see that in my visits to the campus. I feel I can grow as a student-athlete at UW-Oshkosh."
