Eric Brandenburg, a 6-2 middle blocker and outside hitter from Elgin, Illinois and Domenic Judkins, a 6-0 outside hitter from Kaukauna have decided to continue their education and play volleyball at UW-Oshkosh announced head coach Brian Schaefer. Brandenburg is currently in his senior season of high school volleyball playing for head coach Keith Foster at Elgin High School which competes in the Upstate-Eight Conference. Brandenburg also is a member of Circus junior Olympic volleyball club under the direction of Colin Haney and Andy Freidenfelds. Brandenburg has been the Maroons captain the last two seasons and has been on the honor roll all four years of high school. He is involved with student council and peer tutoring and was named academic all-area. "Eric is the type of student-athlete that every coach wants on his team," said Schaefer. "In meeting with him I have no doubt that he will be a tremendous teammate and leader for our program. Academically and athletically he will succeed here at UW-Oshkosh." Eric is the son of Patric Brandenburg and Karla Lang and will study education and physics at UW-Oshkosh. "I picked UW Oshkosh because I like the atmosphere on campus," said Brandenburg. "It's very enclosed, but still remains a fairly large college. The people I met were extremely welcoming, and I think that I'll fit in really well at UW-Oshkosh." Judkins joins current team member Jordan Mattingly, which were both coached by Chris Ebben at Kaukauna High School. Kaukauna High School plays in the Fox Valley Association where Judkins was named first-team all-conference and honorable mention all-state his senior year. Judkins was also named the Post-Crescent Player of the Year. Currently, Judkins is a member of the Nightmares junior Olympic Volleyball club coached by head coach Mike Voigt and assistant coaches Brandon Kirkland and Josh Coenen. Kirkland was a former NCCS All-American at UW-Oshkosh. "Domenic jumps very well, has good ball control and is a game time type player," stated Schaefer. "He was the go-to player on his high school and club team and he certainly has the capability to become that person in our program." Domenic is the son of Dennis and Gail Judkins and intends to pursue athletic training at UW-Oshkosh. Academically, he has been a member of the Kaukauna High School honor roll all four years. "UW-Oshkosh presents a unique opportunity for somebody like Domenic," added Schaefer. "The athletic training program works well with athletes to give them the opportunity to play a sport and obtain a degree. It is not easy, but with hard work and dedication it is certainly possible." "I want to go to UW-Oshkosh because it isn't too far away from home and they have a good athletic training program," said Judkins. "I also get to play volleyball and they have a very good program there."
