UW-Oshkosh Finalizes 2010 Recruiting Class (6-18-09)
The UW-Oshkosh men's volleyball team received two late commitments to finalize its 2010 recruiting class announced head coach Brian Schaefer recently.

Bob Hall, a 6-1 setter from Appleton and Marcus Taylor a 6-0 libero from York, Illinois will be members of the 2010 UW-Oshkosh men's volleyball team.

Hall hails from Appleton West High School and played for former Titans' player Tim Weis. During his prep career, Hall was a three-year team captain and was named the Terrors most valuable player his senior year. That same year he was named All-Fox Valley Association Second-Team and All-State Honorable Mention.

Hall played for Nightmares Volleyball Club under Mike Voigt and former UW-Oshkosh setter Brandon Kirkland and was on the Appleton West High School tennis team for four years, highlighted with an appearance at the state meet his junior year.

Hall is the brother of current Titans' player Jim Hall and is the son of Carol and Dave Hall. His intended major at UW-Oshkosh is meteorology.

"I chose UW-Oshkosh because of the excellent math and science programs and because I will get a chance to play with my brother. I am excited to be a part of the Titans' excellent volleyball program."

"Bob will give us depth at the setting position that we need," said Schaefer. "He is an athletic, left-handed setter with solid blocking skills at the net. With time and repetitions he will be a very good player for us."

Taylor comes to UW-Oshkosh after playing two seasons at the College of DuPage in Illinois and achieving some amazing success.

Originally, Taylor played at York High School under the direction of Patty Iverson and for Side-Out Volleyball Club with Dave Barker as his coach.

At the College of DuPage, he was named the 2009 NCCS Division I-AA Libero of the Year helping the Chaparrals to the national title. The College of DuPage was the NCCS Division III national champions his freshmen campaign in 2008.

Taylor is the son of Cynthia and William Taylor and communications is his intended major at UW-Oshkosh.

"UW-Oshkosh fulfills a lot of the qualities I am looking for in a college," said Taylor. "It has the courses I need to succeed in my major and gives me the chance to play in a more competitive volleyball environment."

"To be frank, Marcus literally walked into my office and asked when tryouts were," stated Schaefer. "He watched us in the NCCS Division I championship match and wanted to be a part of our success, which says a lot considering what he accomplished at the College of DuPage. Our liberos in our system right now are in their third year or longer so we are pleased to have somebody of Marcus' ability in our program."

Hall and Taylor join Eric Brandenburg from Elgin, Illinois, David Catoe from Racine, Marshall Davis from Beloit, Harris Jorgenson from Burlington, Domenic Judkins from Kaukauna, Kyle Ketterhagen from Burlington, Zach Johnson from Mequon and Nick Mueller from Kenosha as incoming players to the team.

"This group of young men could be the strongest ever to come into our program," said Schaefer." The 2010 season has a lot of players with significant amounts of experience graduating. It is important to get our younger, current players and incoming recruits a chance to learn for one more year. After that it will be time for them to shine."

Of the 10 recruits in this year's class, one was named First-Team all-state and five were named Honorable Mention in Wisconsin.
