Oshkosh II Goes Unbeaten at MIVA Play Date (1-31-10)
The UW-Oshkosh II team took a major step in winning its first Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association regular season title by going 5-0 in matches on Saturday (January 30) in Bloomington, Indiana.

UW-Oshkosh (9-0) beat the Purdue University II (Ind.), 25-19, 25-17, the University of Illinois II, 25-23, 19-25, 15-9, the University of Miami (Ohio), 25-8, 25-20, the University of Michigan, 25-15, 25-11 and Michigan State University, 25-16, 25-16.

In the opening match Matt Maciejewski (So. - Greenfield) led the Titans with 10 kills. Bob Hall (Fr. - Appleton) provided 25 assists and five digs and Parker Gross (So. - Appleton) tallied four blocks. Dominic Judkins (Fr. - Kaukauna) and Jordan Mattingly (Jr. - Kaukauna) each had five kills and Gus Odorizzi (Jr. - Pleasant Prairie) had five kills and three blocks.

In the victory over arch rival the University of Illinois II, the Titans started off strong by slamming down 11 kills in 21 errorless attempts in set one. UW-Oshkosh faltered in set two with a .042 hitting percentage before relying on its defense in the deciding stanza.

The Titans sprung out to a 6-2 advantage on a couple of kills by Odorizzi. Taking an 8-5 lead into the side change, UW-Oshkosh held at least a three point lead the rest of the match. UW-Oshkosh captured the match after a solo block by Maciejewski and a kill by Odorrizi. Jim Hall (Sr. - Appleton) provided the defensive spark in the set with four kills and Gross slammed down three kills.

Gross and Odorizzi ended the match with eight kills each and Mattingly provided six on Bob Hall's 23 assists. Jim Hall ended the match with 10 digs and Bob Hall added five.

The Titans had little trouble with the University of Miami II by taking a 14-2 advantage in set one. UW-Oshkosh only had seven kills on 12 attempts in the first set, but added eight blocks and five aces.

Set two was more the same as the Titans ended the match with a tournament high nine service aces and 11 blocks. David Mills (Jr. - Evansville) led the tam with five kills, Nick Mueller (Fr. - Kenosha) had three service aces and Odorzzi had four blocks, all in the first set. Six UW-Oshkosh players recorded at least two kills and Bob Hall recorded 15 assists and four digs.

The Titans hit an astonishing .667 in their match against the University of Michigan II on 27 kills and only three hitting errors. UW-Oshkosh had eight players record at least two kills in the rout of the Wolverines. Mills led the team on a five for five hitting performance, while adding two service aces. Hall had 15 assists, Greg Lulich (Sr. - Ashland) tallied five digs and Luke Coyle (So. - Wauwatosa) and Mills each had two service aces.

In the win over Michigan State University II Bob Hall led the Titans with 24 assists and three service aces. Maciejewski provided nine kills on 11 errorless attempts, Mueller eight and Mattingly six as UW-Oshkosh racked up 29 in the match. Jim Hall scooped up six digs and Odorizzi had three block solos.
