Zak Thompson Decides on UW-Oshkosh (4-14-10)
Zak Thompson, a 6-0 outside hitter from Racine will be joining the UW-Oshkosh men's volleyball team in the fall of 2010 announced head coach Brian Schaefer.

"Zak will be a perfect fit for our team next year," said Schaefer. "In talking to his coaches he works extremely hard in practice, wants to get better and will be a good replacement for the holes that we are losing this season."

Thompson attends Racine Case high school and was a first-team all-Racine county and second-team all-conference performer for head coach Kerry Timler this past fall. Serving as team captain his senior campaign, he led the Rebels in kills and hitting percentage and was named the team's most valuable player. Currently he plays for the Next Level junior Olympic volleyball team under the direction of Jim Dykstra.

Thompson plays on pursuing a major in criminal justice.

"I liked the campus and school size," said Thompson. "I enjoyed practicing with the team and I know they have a great volleyball program."

"We have had been fortunate to attract a lot of great players from the Racine area," added Schaefer. "It has some of the strongest boys' volleyball in the state and Zak will be a welcomed addition to our team."
