Alumni Weekend Celebrates Ten Years (1-17-08)
This year marked the 10th Annual Alumni Weekend for Oshkosh Volleyball. It was another success despite the fact that the schedule of events had to be drastically changed due to the Green Bay Packer playoff game.
The Friday night kick-off party and card tournaments were once again held at The Bar of Oshkosh, a long-time sponsor of Oshkosh Volleyball. Alumni, current team members, coaches and friends all took part in the card tournaments. The 8th annual Sheephead tournament was won by alum Mike Radtke and the Texas hold'em tournament was won by former coach, Marty Peterson.
Saturday's events revolved around the Green Bay Packer playoff game. We had to cancel the regular alumni matches at Kolf so that we could gather for the game. We started the day off with a coed quads sand volleyball tournament at The Bar of Oshkosh. The winning team was comprised of Mike Semrad, David Pautz, Cory Schmitt and Sam Schmidt. After the volleyball, most alumni stayed and watched as the Packers destroyed the Seahawks, 42-20.
After the game, alumni and team members gathered at El Azteca, for a Mexican buffet, before following free beer at French Quarter and Molly's.
