Titans Blow Past Cyclones (1-22-08)
Using all 14 players on their roster, the UW-Oshkosh II men's volleyball team made short work of UW-Fox Valley in a match held on Tuesday (Jan. 22) in Albee Hall. Winning scores for the Titans were 30-15, 30-19, 30-18 in the sweep.
Led by Mike Cotter's (So. • Appleton) five kills, UW-Oshkosh (2-0) slammed down 15 kills in the first game in the romp. The Cyclones were only able to score three points off of their serve and endured a .590 hitting percentage by the Titans.
Ahead 4-2 in game two, UW-Oshkosh's Ryan Schultz (Fr. • Wauwatosa) served 10 consecutive points for a 14-2 advantage. Jordan Mattingly (Fr. • Kaukauna) led the Titans with four kills and Cotter added four digs in the game.
Luke Wyngaard (Fr. • Kimberly) and Matt Boese (Fr. • Delafield) each had four kills in the third game to lead the Titans to the sweep. Jim Hall, who got the Titans rolling with a seven point run from his serve to start the game, (Jr. • Appleton) and Greg Lulich (Fr. • Ashland) each added five digs in the stanza.
Cotter led the Titans with eight kills on 10 attempts and added five digs. Hall ended the match with seven digs and two service aces and Lulich and Justin Soukup (So. • Madison) scooped up five digs. Chris Schinner (Jr. • Mequon) had six kills and Mattingly added five of his own. Bradie Williams (Fr. • Middleton) dished out 19 assists and Schultz added 14 helpers.
UW-Oshkosh finished the match with 40 kills on a .429 hitting percentage. The Titans added seven service aces, 31 digs and six blocks.
