Oshkosh Nabs Fourth 2009 Recruit From Greenfield (2-12-08)
Matt Maciejewski, a 6-2 left side hitter from Greenfield, Wisconsin has decided to attend UW-Oshkosh and play for the men's volleyball team announced head coach Brian Schaefer. Maciejewski becomes the Titans fourth 2008-2009 recruit for the two-time defending NIRSA Division I national champions.
"Matt is a versatile athlete with a strong vertical to go with a fast arm swing," said head coach Brian Schaefer. "I see Matt as somebody that will contribute to our team right away as a freshman and I look forward to having his work ethic and compassion for the game on the Titans' team."
Maciejewski started three seasons on the varsity squad at Greenfield High School where he was the Hustlin' Hawks team captain in 2006 and 2007. During his time on head coach Kurt Kaempfer's team, Maciejewski was named Woodland Conference First-Team in 2006 and 2007 as well as honorable mention as a sophomore. In 2006 and 2007 he was named his team's offensive player of the year, collecting 363 kills as a senior.
In both 2006 and 2007, Maciejewski ended his high school season being named to the honorable mention all-area and honorable mention all-state team. His junior year Greenfield High School reached the quarterfinals of the boys WIAA state tournament.
Currently, Maciejewski is a member of the West Allis Lightning junior Olympic volleyball team and is a starter for his high school's basketball team. Maciejewski is the son of Leslie and Mike and will be majoring in computer science.
"I decided on UW-Oshkosh because I really enjoyed the atmosphere around the campus," said Maciejeski when asked why he selected UW-Oshkosh. "It felt like a perfect fit for me and I look forward to playing at UW-Oshkosh very soon."
Maciejeski joins Ian LaPhilliph, a 6-2 left side hitter from Madison, Cole Holmes, a 6-2 right side hitter from Lake Bluff, Illinois and William Brydon, a 6-3 middle blocker from Northbrook, Illinois as committed student-athletes to the 2008-2009 UW-Oshkosh team.
