Team Shows Dedication in Classroom (3-2-08)
Sixteen members of the UW-Oshkosh men's volleyball team acheived a 3.0 or higher grade point average during the 2007 fall semester announced head coach Brian Schaefer recently.
Seniors Brandon Kirkland, John Erickson and Nathan Malewiski, juniors Mark Beck, Greg Lulich, Mike Murphy and Chris Schinner, sophomores Mike Cotter and Eric Waite and freshmen Tyler Boddy, Matt Boese, Lars Fiorio, Michael Heup, Dan Ruys, Bradie Williams and Luke Wyngaard highlight the list of honorees.
"Academically we had a great first semester," said Schaefer. "It takes a lot of time management skills to achieve the success that we had as a team first semester. I am especially pleased with our freshmen class as they get used to the rigors of college life."
Beck, Boese, Murphy and Malewiski each achieved over a 3.90 grade point average with Malewiski leading the charge with a perfect 4.0.
"Not only did nearly half of our team acheive a 3.0 or higher we had another six players above a 2.8. It is nice to have a team dedicated in the classroom as well as on the volleyball court."
