1996 National Championship Team to be Honored (3-1-08)
The Wisconsin Volleyball Conference has just recently announced that the 1996 NIRSA Division II National Championship team will be inducted into the WVC Hall of Fame as a member of its' 2008 class.
The voters (current WVC Hall of Fame members, friends of the WVC, coaches, etc.) felt that our team laid the foundation for the WVC to become the powerhouse conference it is today. Five of the last six teams in the NIRSA Division I national championship final have been WVC teams.
2005 - Marquette University (champs), UW-Oshkosh (runner-ups) 2006 - UW-Oshkosh (champs) 2007 - UW-Oshkosh (champs), Lakeland College (runner-ups)
The induction ceremony that will be held on Saturday, April 5 as part of the WVC state championship that will be held in La Crosse. The exact time has not been set as it will take place after the WVC Division I championship match (roughly 7 p.m.).
UW-Oshkosh has had a rich tradition of volleyball success and leads the WVC in individuals inducted into the Hall of Fame. Dave Boos (2006), Jim Boos (2002), Paul Hammen (2003), Mike Radtke (2003) and Josh Wagner (2004) are current members of the WVC Hall of Fame.
