UW-Oshkosh Bruises Blue Devils (3-5-08)
The UW-Oshkosh men's volleyball team has four players hit over .500 in a 30-14, 30-19, 30-17 thrashing of UW-Stout in a Wisconsin Volleyball Conference match held on Tuesday (March 4) in Menomonie.
John Erickson (Sr. • Ripon) went six for seven in the first game and Tyler Boddy (Fr. • New Ulm, Minn.) added five kills on six attempts as the Titans connected on 18 as a team. Dan Ruys (Fr. • Kimberly) kept the team going in the second game with five kills and Danny Hessling (Jr. • Greenfield) added four.
The Titans finished the sweep in the third game in not allowing the Blue Devils to reach 20 points in any of the three games. The Titans had 48 kills and hit .395 in the match.
Ruys hit a blistering .857 on 12 kills in 14 errorless attempts and added three blocks. Erickson added 11 kills for a .769 hitting percentage and Boddy and Hessling each had nine kills. Andy Schinner (Fr. • Racine) dished out 24 assists and had three service aces and Eric Waite (So. • Madison) added seven assists and four service aces. Hessling had a match-high five service aces and Boddy tallied four blocks.
UW-Oshkosh only had one receiving error and had 15 service aces on only six serving errors.
