Oshkosh III Sweeps UW-Fox Valley (3-12-08)
After a slow start, the UW-Oshkosh III men's volleyball team swept UW-Fox Valley, 30-27, 30-15, 30-18 in a non-conference match held on Wednesday (March 18) in Kolf Sports Center.
Down 18-10 in game one, UW-Oshkosh used a late push in game one to tie the score at 26-26. Coming off the bench, Alex Reynolds (So. • South Milwaukee) sparked the team with three straight kills and Luke Wyngaard (Fr. • Kimberly) was four for four on kill attempts during the 16-8 scoring run that knotted the score. UW-Oshkosh ended the game on a 4-1 scoring skein, highlighted by a service ace by Mark Beck (Jr. • Darboy).
The Titans had little drama in the second game as they had 10 kills on 18 errorless attempts for a .555 hitting percentage. Reynolds and Wyngaard each had three kills in the game.
Evan Fahl (Fr. • Appleton) almost single-handedly led UW-Oshkosh to victory in the third-game as he was a perfect eight for eight in kill attempts. Mike Murphy (Jr. • Richland Center) and Reynolds each added four kills in the game as the Titans had a match-high 17 put-downs in the game.
Reynolds led the team with 10 kills and three service aces. Fahl finished with nine kills on 11 errorless attempts and Wyngaard had seven kills on eight attempts for a .875 hitting percentage. Murphy ended the contest with seven kills and three blocks and Greg Lulich (Jr. • Ashland) had 11 digs.
Mike Heup (Fr. • Oconomowoc) dished out 20 assists and had five digs and Brian Fox (Fr. • Fond du Lac) tallied 12 assists to go along with an eight-point scoring run in the second game.
The Titans hit .384 on 41 kills and had 33 digs and nine service aces in the match.
