Titans Wrap Up Successful Year in the Classroom (5-25-08)
Nineteen members of the UW-Oshkosh men's volleyball team achieved a 3.0 or higher grade point average during the 2008 spring semester announced head coach Brian Schaefer recently.
Seniors Kurt Breier, Brandon Kirkland, John Erickson, Nathan Malewiski, juniors Mark Beck, Danny Hessling, Greg Lulich, Mike Murphy and Chris Schinner, sophomores Mike Cotter and Justin Soukup and freshmen Tyler Boddy, Matt Boese, Lars Fiorio, Michael Heup, Dan Ruys, Andy Schinner, Bradie Williams and Luke Wyngaard form the group.
Seniors Kirkland, Erickson and Malewiski, juniors Beck, Lulich, Murphy and Schinner, sophomore Cotter and freshmen Boddy, Boese, Fiorio, Heup, Ruys, Williams and Wyngaard were also on the 3.0 honor roll during the 2007 fall semester.
"Academically we had a great year," said Schaefer. "We actually had 20 members of our team get better grades during the volleyball season second semester than first semester. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to acheive success both on and off the court."
Beck, Breier, Erickson, Hessling, Kirkland, Lulich, Malewiski, Murphy, Chris Schinner and Soukup all achieved above a 3.40 grade point average.
"The most impressive thing about that list is that 11 of those guys are newcomers to the team," added Schaefer. "We are trying to change the way some people see club volleyball and the guys did a tremendous job."
