Oshkosh Players Dominate at the Waupaca Boatride Tournament (7-15-08)
For the second consecutive year, current and past UW-Oshkosh players dominated the Waupaca Boatride Tournament held in Wisconsin Dells, WI.
The Waupaca Boatride Tournament is the largest outdoor triples tournaments in the nation. This year the spectacle boasted over 620 teams spread over 10 divisions of play.
Former Titans standout Andrew Sederberg won the Open division for the second consecutive year after making it to the finals for the third straight year. The AA division was won by current Titans Tyler Boddy (So. • New Ulm, Minn.), Danny Hessling (Sr. • Greenfield) and Aaron Wayne (Sr. • New Berlin) Last year Boddy won the A Division with head coach Brian Schaefer.
The trio beat graduated senior Brandon Kirkland in the finals. Last season Kirkland, graduated senior Jordan Jung and former Titan David Pautz won the AA division.
Former Titans Cory Schmitt, Paul Hammen and Eddie Zelhofer took third place in the AA division losing to Kirkland's team in the semifinals.
The A division winner featured former UW-Oshkosh player Aaron Lang. Lang, who lost to Boddy and Schaefer in last's A division final took home the championship this year.
The B division had current UW-Oshkosh players Lars Fiorio (So. • Ashland ), Miles Kraczek (Sr. • Cameron) and Mike Murphy (Sr. • Richland Center) take third place in their first time playing in the tournament.
In all there were not less than 40 former and current UW-Oshkosh players at the tournament in 2008. In addition many current and former UW-Oshkosh women's players were in attendance as well.
