Oshkosh II Wins Despite Spotting NIU a Two Set Lead (2-23-10)
The UW-Oshkosh II team remained undefeated in the Wisconsin Volleyball Conference Division II with a come from behind victory over Northland International University on Tuesday (Feb. 23) in Kolf Sports Center. UW-Oshkosh II (25-0/6-0 WVC) won in set scores of 20-25, 23-25, 29-27, 25-15, 15-7 to take a one match lead over the Pioneers. Northland International University and UW-Oshkosh II both came into the match undefeated in conference play. Nick Mueller (Fr. - Kenosha) led the Titans with 14 kills. Parker Gross (So. - Appleton) followed with 11 kills, Luke Coyle (So. - Wauwatosa) with 10, Matt Maciejewski (So. - Greenfield) with seven and Dominic Judkins (Fr. - Kaukauna) with six. Bob Hall (Fr. - Appleton) added 41 assists, six kills and four blocks, including a crucial solo stuff in set three when the Titans were trailing 23-22. Gross added eight blocks and Judkins provided four blocks of his own. Jim Hall (Sr. - Appleton) scooped up seven digs and Chris Schinner (Sr. - Mequon) added 11 assists and four digs. "I hope we learned a lesson tonight to respect every opponent that walks on to the court to face us," said head coach Brian Schaefer. "NIU always plays with pride and passion and it showed during the match. I give them a ton of credit and I hope it opened the guys' eyes tonight."
