Hamilton to Become a Titan (4-28-15)
Kyren Hamilton, a 6-0 right side hitter from Plainfield, Illinois will be joining the UW-Oshkosh men's volleyball team this fall announced head coach Brian Schaefer.
Hamilton spent his first two years of college at Joliet Junior College where he did not participate in volleyball. He graduated from Romeoville High School in 2013 and played volleyball under the direction of head coach Debra Fehrenbacher where he was named the team most valuable player his senior season. He also was named a Southwest Prairie Conference athletic award recipient.
During his senior year he also participated on the Club UNO 18-Elite team where he was coached by Anthony Graham and also was a member of the Spartan cross country team at Romeoville.
“I chose UW-Oshkosh because they have an outstanding reputation for being a well-coached program,” said Hamilton. “They have a history of winning and I felt like that the team would be the best option for me. It would be a huge achievement of mine to display my abilities on the team and graduate knowing I made a difference at the school”
Kyren is the son of Natasha Hamilton and Sammy Schwarberg and his intended major at UW-Oshkosh is communications.
“We recruited Kyren out of high school but at the time the right option for him and his family was to attend a two-year school,” said Schaefer. “We kept in contact knowing that he wanted to attend a four-year school and play volleyball after earning his degree at Joliet Community College. We are excited to have another athletic, high jumping left-handed athlete in our program.”
