Hedstrom Joins Club Teammates at UW-Oshkosh (5-11-15)
Tyler Hedstrom, a 6-1 setter and right side hitter from Kenosha has decided to continue his education and volleyball career at UW-Oshkosh announced head coach Brian Schaefer recently.
Coached by Brian Sharkey at Southport Volleyball Club, Hedstrom joins Bryan Batchelor (Burlington), Eli Miller (Burlington) and Mike Skora (Westosha Central) as commitments from this highly regarded club in the state.
"We have been fortunate to have attracted many great players from not only Southport Volleyball Club, but from Southeastern Wisconsin in general," said Schaefer. "There is a rich history of boys volleyball in that area and we hope to continue to add these great young men to our program. Tyler is a hard-working player that excels in many areas of his life - on the court, in the classroom and in the community."
Hedstrom attended Kenosha Bradford High School and played volleyball for head coach Nick Pinnola. He is a versatile athlete being named first team All-South Eastern Conference his senior year as a setter and second team all-conference as an outside hitter his junior season.
Hedstrom has been a member of the honor roll all four years of high school while playing basketball and baseball in a Red Devils uniform. He is the son of Luann and Matt Hedstrom and will major in computer science at UW-Oshkosh.
"UW-Oshkosh has an outstanding volleyball program as well as a great education system," said Hedstrom. "It was an easy choice for me."
