Incoming Freshmen Set to Finish High School Sports Careers (6-4-15)
Two incoming UW-Oshkosh men's volleyball players will close out their high school athletic careers at the WIAA state meet. Brett Thompson (West Salem) and Matt Pedersen (Muskego) will represent their school in track and field and golf, respectively.

Thompson will compete in two events this Friday and Saturday (June 5-6) on the campus of UW-La Crosse. He will challenge for the state title in the high jump and 4x400 meter relay. Thompson qualified for the state championship in the high jump by clearing 6-4 at the Viroqua Sectional. He is tied with two other individuals as the second seed in the event. Thompson and his Panther teammates are the 14th seed in the relay with a time of 3:29.54 after taking third in the sectional.

Pedersen will represent the first golf team in school history to qualify for the state meet when he competes on Monday and Tuesday (June 8-9) at University Ridge in Madison. Pedersen and his Warriors teammates qualified by tying for first place at the Ives Grove Golf Course in Sturtevant. Both Muskego High School and Racine Case High School shot a 40 over par 320 with Racine Case winning in a playoff. Individually Pedersen shot an even par 72 to claim second place at the Racine Case Sectional.
